Huawei plans to broaden its product portfolio in a bid to compete in the Smartphone market, according to a March 8, 2012 report by the Wall Street Journal. Huawei said that it will add more employees to the design team, and the company's design operations currently employ 300 people working in China, Europe, Japan, and the United States. It is reported that Huawei will release a series of mid-range to high-end Smartphones in 2012 and aim to become one of the top three companies within the next five years in the worldwide Smartphone market.
